Rie Hiraoka joins the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC) as visiting scholar beginning winter 2024 for the year. She is currently a Professor at Kyoto University for Advanced Sciences, as well as advisor for the Institute of Future Initiatives and consulting general manager at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank. Previously, she served as a director at the Asian Development Bank. While at APARC, she will be conducting research regarding public policies for innovation, science and technology development.
