Biography

Takashi Ofuji is a global affiliate visiting scholar at the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (Shorenstein APARC) for 2026-27. Ofuji has more than 20 years of experience in university administration at Kyushu Sangyo University in Fukuoka, Japan, with a particular focus on international affairs, language education, and global engagement. His professional experience has shaped his interest in how universities can engage across borders, collaborate with society, and contribute to addressing global challenges. He holds a master's degree in International Cooperation and Development and has pursued field-based initiatives in Asia, including a project to develop and promote Nepali coffee in support of local economic development. While at APARC, he will explore the future of international cooperation through a comparative study of Japan, the United States, and the Asia-Pacific region, examining how it is evolving in response to contemporary global challenges. His research will pay particular attention to the evolving roles of universities and other actors in fostering cross-border collaboration and creating meaningful social impact.
