Biography
Shoko Yoshida is a global affiliate visiting scholar at the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (Shorenstein APARC) for 2026-27. Yoshida joined the Japanese Ministry of Finance (MoF) in 2019 and has worked across several policy areas, including the Fiscal Investment and Loan Program, government assets, and foreign exchange markets. In 2023, she was assigned to the Tokai Local Finance Bureau, where she conducted economic assessments of the regional economy with a focus on consumption trends. In 2024, she returned to MoF and supported monitoring of USD/JPY market developments, as well as coordinating an expert advisory meeting convened by the Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs. In 2025, she moved to the Financial Services Agency and served as Deputy Director of the Research Office, leading work related to the Act on the Provision of Financial Services and the Development of the Accessible Environment Thereto. While at APARC, she will be researching monetary policy developments and the USD/JPY exchange rate.
