Biography
Professor Ryosei Kokubun joined the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI) and the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC) as Payne Distinguished Fellow for the 2023 spring quarter. He is currently Professor Emeritus at Keio University in Tokyo, Japan, as well as Adviser at the Fujitsu Future Studies Center, Ltd. Previously, he served as President of the National Defense Academy of Japan. While at APARC, he conducted research on comparing engagement policies toward China between the U.S. and Japan since the 1990s, and the future possibilities of policy coordination.
