Biography
Noriaki Wada is a global affiliate visiting scholar at the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (Shorenstein APARC) for 2025-26. He has over 13 years of experience at Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), where he has primarily worked on energy and environmental policymaking and on promoting the digital transformation (DX) of Japanese companies. Most recently, he was responsible for designing the electric power system and developing regulations for electricity trading. He received his Bachelor's degree in Policy and Planning Sciences from the University of Tsukuba in Japan. While at APARC, he will be researching how to combine a stable electricity supply and carbon neutrality.
