Biography
Koji Omura is a global affiliate visiting scholar at the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (Shorenstein APARC) for 2024-25. Omura leads two publicly listed companies, APAMAN and Systemsoft. APAMAN is one of the world's largest rental brokerage companies, measured by the number of agencies specializing in rental brokerage and the number of contracts signed, with approximately 1,000 agencies, 400,000 annual rental brokerage transactions, and 1 million rental units under management. In addition to his corporate roles, Omura manages a professional soccer team, Avispa Fukuoka, and oversees marriage support centers as part of his corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Last year, Avispa Fukuoka won the Levain Cup, becoming the top team in Japan. Omura holds a degree from Waseda University's Graduate School of Sport Sciences, earned in 2021, and an Executive MBA from Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business, completed in 2024. While at APARC, Omura will be researching strategies for Japan to overcome its declining population problem.
