Takuro Niitsuma

Takuro Niitsuma is a global affiliate visiting scholar at the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (Shorenstein APARC) for 2026-27. Niitsuma joined The Asahi Shimbun Company as a research engineer in 2021. His research focuses on computational social science, data journalism, natural language processing, and large language models. He received his M. Eng. from Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), where he studied natural language processing. Before pursuing his M. Eng., he worked as a software engineer in web development. While at APARC, he will develop statistical models for analyzing political discourse and AI agents for the study of international affairs.
